Terms & Conditions

Welcome to the School of Urban and Regional Planning Alumni Association website, hosted on the Wix platform (the "Site"). These Terms of Agreement ("Terms") govern your use of the Site and all content, services, and products available through the Site. By accessing or using any part of the Site, you agree to become bound by the terms and conditions of this agreement.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using the Site, you represent that you have read and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to all the terms and conditions of this agreement, you must not access or use the Site.

2. SURPA Membership and Eligibility

  • Eligibility: Membership in SURPA is open to individuals who have graduated from the School of Urban and Regional Planning at Toronto Metropolitan. Specific eligibility criteria are maintained by the SURPA Committee.

    • Current students, partners of SURPA, and key stakeholders are more than welcome to attend events and engage in the day-to-day services provided by SURPA.​

  • Accuracy of Information: When registering for events,  or initiatives you agree to provide current, accurate, and complete information.

3. User Conduct and Responsibilities

You agree not to use the site to:

  • Post, transmit, or link to any content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, vulgar, or obscene.

  • Engage in unauthorized commercial activity, including sending unsolicited communications ("spam").

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Site, other user accounts, or computer systems connected to the Site (including the Wix platform infrastructure).

  • Use the Site for commercial or recruiting purposes without the express written permission of the SURPA Committee.

Note: Any breach of these conduct rules may result in the immediate suspension or termination of your account or access to the Site.

4. User-Generated Content

  • Responsibility: If the Site allows you to post content (e.g., comments, directory updates, forum posts), you are solely responsible for all content you post, upload, or transmit.

  • License: By posting content, you grant SURPA a perpetual, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, and distribute that content within the scope of SURPA’s mission.

  • Prohibited Content: Content posted must comply with all laws and not infringe upon the rights (including intellectual property rights) of any third party.

5. Intellectual Property Rights

  • SURPA Content: All content on the Site, including text, logos, graphics, images, design, and branding, are the proprietary property of SURPA or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not use, reproduce, or distribute any content from the Site without explicit permission.

  • Trademarks: The name "SURPA" and the SURPA logo are trademarks of the Association. You may not use these without prior written consent.

6. Third-Party Links and Services (Wix)

  • The Site may contain links to third-party websites (e.g., payment processors, social media). These links are provided for convenience, and SURPA is not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or accuracy of any third-party websites.

  • The functionality and hosting of the Site are provided by Wix.com. You acknowledge that your use of the Site is also subject to the Wix Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

  • The Site and its content are provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. SURPA makes no warranties, expressed or implied, regarding the operation or availability of the Site, the accuracy of its content, or that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. Your use of the Site is at your sole risk

8. Limitation of Liability

  • To the maximum extent permitted by law, SURPA, its directors, officers, employees, agents, or affiliates will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, resulting from:

    • Your access to or use of, or inability to access or use, the Site.

    • Any conduct or content of any third party on the Site.

    • Any content obtained from the Site.

9. Indemnification

​You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SURPA, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of the Site or your violation of these Terms.​

10. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of [Insert Jurisdiction/Province/State, e.g., the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein], without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

11. Changes to the Terms

SURPA reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will provide at least [e.g., 30] days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect. By continuing to access or use the Site after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Terms.
